Pastoral Staff

Tom Olney

Senior Pastor

“Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…,” is Pastor’s favorite Bible verse. Rooted in the Italy Valley/Naples area nestled in the mountains of upstate New York, Pastor was saved at the age of 9. Lee was saved at a revival at the age of 13. Pastor’s first two years of college were in West Virginia before God led him to Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC where God called him to preach. Upon completion of his Bachelor’s degree, he continued on with two years of graduate studies towards his Masters of Divinity Degree, during which time he met his bride.

While filling the pulpit at a freshly-born church in Godfrey, IL, God’s definite leading brought about his becoming pastor of Faith in 1960. With his calling came also a heart burden for establishing Christ-centered schooling for children. God brought this to reality in 1974 with the birth of Mississippi Valley Christian School as a ministry of Faith Baptist Church.

The Olney’s have five children and 13 grandchildren. May God be praised!

Sam Lavender

Youth Pastor

Sam and Hilary were both raised in a Christian home. Each dedicated their life to the Lord as teenagers and went to Bob Jones University receiving their Bachelor’s degrees; Sam in Bible, and Hilary in Women’s Ministries. When Sam graduated from college he entered full-time evangelism for six years based out of Victory Baptist Church in Macon, GA and Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster, CO. During his fourth summer of traveling he met Hilary at a Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp in Sterling, Alaska. A year later they were married on May 24, 2008.

Since then Sam has served as staff evangelist at Faith Baptist Church in Longmont, Colorado, and as youth and outreach director at First Baptist Church in Lewes, Delaware. Sam now serves as the youth pastor at Faith and teaches various classes at Mississippi Valley Christian School.

Dave Schneider

Mississippi Valley Christian School Administrator

Dave was raised in a Pastor’s home and thought he was saved as a young boy. After several years of doubting his salvation, he accepted Christ at Bethany Baptist Church during special meetings in 1994 and was baptized a few weeks later. This was after four years of Bible college and almost 9 years of teaching. Robin was also raised in a Pastor’s home and was saved during her junior year of college. Both Dave and Robin graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College where they met; they were married in 1986. They both began teaching and coaching at Tabernacle Christian School, Martinsville, IN. They have also taught and coached at Bethany Christian Academy, Galesburg, IL; North Hardin Christian School, Radcliff, KY; and Academy of Excellence, Milwaukee, WI.

Dave and Robin have 3 daughters, 1 adopted daughter, 1 grandson, and 5 foster granddaughters. They have joined the staff at MVCS this fall as our Administrator and Robin as our third and fourth grade teacher and also as our secondary music teacher.

Dave is our Awana director and Robin is the Sparky leader along with ministering in our music ministry.
